Favorite place in the world

Favorite place in the world

My favorite place in the world is New York at Christmas. New York is a city in New York state in United States of America. New York defining is high buildings therefore everything is big in New York, like for example the food like hamburgers and Christmas. New York goes big or go home at Christmas, the decorations and lights are example for that.

Christmas in New York is just a dream, the lights, decorations and the big Christmas tree however Central Park is the most beautiful but they do not have any light or big decorations, just trees and rocks but when it snows it can get you in the Christmas spirit.
The population in New York is 19,570,261 therefore New york is one of the largest cities in United States of America. It is a big chance going from Reykjavík, Iceland to New York because it is so many people there, in Iceland you often can get to the dressing room without waiting in line but in New York you often have to wait in line for 30 minutes specifically at Christmas time.
To acquire the New York Christmas spirit you will have to get some skates and go to the New York skating rink, there are many people who come there in december all togheter has a family. My accommodation was the best hotel in New York,  The Plaza. It is like in Home alone 2, the boy stayed at the Plaza at Christmas, when he took the wrong plane at got to New york instaed of Paris, France. The last thing to do in New York at Christmas is NYC holiday lights tour it is very impressive, all the big lights and you are not in a car or a bus, you are in a horse cart.

Holiday from hell

Escaping winter

Iceland is a cold and windy place during the winter and although most of us here endure through it some of us dream of leaving and spending some time in a tropical paradise. That's what my family decided on but ultimately, looking back,  our holiday was probably never ment to be, due to a series of unfortunate events. This is our story.
It didn‘t start off well that dreary Monday morning, we were gonna wake up at 5 am but overslept and didn‘t depart until 6 am. Subsequently our drive to the airport was a hasty one. When we got to the airport we were astounded to find the terminal swarming with people, it was so densely populated it looked like a wal mart on black Friday. We were already 1 hour behind schedule so this was a grim sight to behold.
Through our resolve we managed to cheat our way into the front of the line while bombarded with grunts from some other people in the line.  One angry man commenced pushing us out of the line but after explaining our situation and offering him a little compensation he agreed to let us stay where we were. We finally get to the check in and despite us being very late the cashier(for lack of a better word) was very accomodating and hurried with our check in. Everything was finally going accordingly to plan, that is, until we tried to go through the security check. I go first and get through just fine but then it‘s time for my mother. Knowing how forgetful my mother is i was not surprised when security had to take her aside to pat her down when the metal detector sounded the alarm. After 20 minutes of trying to find out what it was that caused the alarm, we finally found out that her t shirt had a little steel pin on it. At that point we were all pretty  exasperated but my father rallied the troops and got us to hurry to our gate, we could still catch our flight! This airport was not a straightforward one, but despite that my father navigated the halls like he knew them like the back of his hand and we were all very impressed.  But it was all too good to be true, when we finally arrive at the gate we come to the horrible realization that my dad had taken us to gate 31 instead of 13. After asking an employee at the airport he told us that gate 13 was on the othe side of the airport  and after hearing that we realised our vacation had slipped from our hands.

Yet another december spent in the cold icelandic weather because of a vacation from hell that didn‘t even last out of the airport and needless to say everyone was very dissapointed and no one trusted my dads navigating skills for a while after!

My trip to Glasgow

I have planed a trip to Glasgow, I will be there from Thursday to Sunday. I decided to travel with Icelandair, and stay on Ibiz hotel in Glasgow.
The plan is to go at six o'clock in the morning to the airport with the bus, the flight is at 8 o'clock. The flight takes 2 hours and we arrived at Glasgow airport at 11 o'clock, Glasgow time.

Thursday
The first thing I do after leaving the airport is do find a taxi, the Icelanders are well known here in Glasgow. The taxi driver ask where I was from and when I said Iceland, he said "aha shopping?" and of course I said yes. When I was at my hotel I paid the Taxi driver 14 pounds, and got my bags, who were empty by the way. At the checking-in table I got my card for my room and went up on third floor where my room was. My room was very comfy and sweet, after seeing my room I left my bags and took my wallet and went out. My hotel is on a very good street because I just walked up two streets and to my left there was the main shopping street. HM, Forever 21, Primemark and New look, I think I am in shopping heaven. The rest of the day I was in the stores spending over 60 pounds and yes that was planned ;). If I got hungry I just went to Starbucks and got a hot coco and a sandwich, when the evening has come I decided to leave my bags at the Ibiz hotel and go out fancy. I pick an Italian restaurant, the waiter were so funny and nice. I ordered Bologna lasagne, that tasted super good and the for drinks I wanted to be cheap and get a glass of water. Yes I ordered a glass of water, clearly not the best idea of the day because it tasted horrible, and got me thinking how lucky we are in Iceland. I was so thirsty and ordered one glass of sprite, but the waiter forgot about it and never came with it :(. I ate my food and then paid 10 pounds and give tips for the waiter even though they forgot about my glass of sprite, that's how good mood I was in that evening. Before I got to the Ibiz hotel, I decided to get something to drink and some Glasgow sweets :), that was the best idea of the evening because I tasted the best water in Glasgow and the best cupcake in the world, Mmmm so good. After buying 2 more cupcakes, I got to the hotel and watch the television for little time, and got do sleep after long hard shopping day.

Friday
This day was little different because I decided to look around the town and try not do spend a lot of money this time. I found a taxi and said to him to go do Hampden Park because there is Celtic's soccer court. I have to get some Celtic stuff like t-shirt and football. Then I will go to Whole foods because there is super foods and more. This takes most part of the day and I have to get something to eat for dinner, before it gets dark. I take cab to the shopping street, and get Mcdonalds for dinner because it is not available in Iceland and it is cheap. I do not use underground, I like getting a cab even though it is expensive. I decided to eat my meal in my hotel and I walk to my hotel, after eating and watching little television, I go to sleep.
Saturday
It was a sunny day like always and I wanted to shop a little because tomorrow I was leaving. The plane is going early like 8 am early, and this is my last day in Glasgow. I wanted to go and see Glasgow school of art, that cost £8.75 pounds and after that I will go to Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum but that cost the same. Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum is a magnificent stone building, this grand Victorian cathedral of culture has been revamped into a fascinating and unusual museum, with a bewildering variety of exhibits. It was a wonderful day of arts and beautiful buildings.  After all this walking and looking I decade to go back at the hotel and start to pack in my bags. Then I will go to sleep, after excellent and exhausting day.
Sunday
I went yearly to the airport with a taxi and checked my in and then got some breakfast in the airport, I did not get breakfast in the hotel like I always did, because I was to tired. The plane was very comfortable and had television on the seats like last time. After 2 hours in the plane we finally landed at Keflavík airport in Iceland. Good to be home.
